April is Volunteer Appreciation Month and it’s something we look forward to every year.

Volunteers are the engine that drives the Habitat mission, and the magic that makes each day possible.

Without the dedication of our volunteers, whether it’s for one day or three times a week every week, your time and talent matter. Thank you.

For the last 80 years, volunteers have been recognized in April during National Volunteer Week, the week of April 16th. On April 20th, we sing a little louder for Volunteer Recognition Day to recognize, celebrate, and give thanks to all our volunteers for their truly selfless dedication to Habitat and our local community.

Celebrate with Pizza

Looking for something fun to do on April 20th? We say celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Day with pizza!

Take your favorite volunteer out for lunch or dinner and California Pizza Kitchen (Foxwoods) will donate 20% of your bill to Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut! We think that’s a win-win with extra cheese.

Join Our Volunteer Community

We are working hard to answer the demand for affordable housing in our local communities. Our goal is to finish more houses per year than ever before. That means that we need more volunteers!

RESTORE:

Revenue generated at the ReStores funds our operations and helps build more homes. Help stock shelves, move furniture, and more.

OFFICE and ADMINISTRATIVE:

The demand on our administrative team increases along with the number of homes produced. We have multiple committees that need more long-term volunteers willing to participate (at least two years). Most committees meet monthly and require a few hours of service in between meetings.

CONSTRUCTION:

With more houses planned in multiple locations, we need more weekly volunteers and group build days to keep up the pace with our construction schedules.
