We have two big announcements this Giving Tuesday, both advancing the reach of our work to build more affordable housing in Eastern Connecticut.

This past year, our 35th as a Habitat affiliate, we not only dedicated our 100th home, but we also began work on six new projects. Building at a quicker pace will increase the inventory of affordable homes in Eastern Connecticut, and ultimately help more families in need of decent shelter. Our accelerated output will require even more support from our donors, partners, and volunteers than in the past!

Our challenge to you is, how big can you give?

It’s Time to Strengthen Our Foundation and Build More Homes

In this season of giving, celebrating, and reflecting, we think it’s also time to take a new look at the work we do in this world, together. It’s time to build more, to do more, and to give more.

Let’s imagine a world where neighbors help neighbors and everyone has what they need. Let’s be radical and agree to set down roots together, in our local communities, and build more affordable housing than ever before.

What does that level of generosity look like to you?

By becoming a Carpenter’s Club member and giving a sustainable monthly donation, you single-handedly help us reach our housing goals. Now is the time to stretch and give a little more than before.

The Power of More

When we join together and work alongside one another, we can do more. On this Giving Tuesday, that is exactly what we are doing: more. For each new Carpenter’s Club member, the Descendants of Lucille and Richard Fontaine Family Fund will donate $100.

By choosing to donate monthly, you’ll help Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut secure an additional $2000 towards affordable housing. It’s as easy as that!

Are you ready to do more with your monthly giving?

We are grateful for the Fontaine family and their generous support of Habitat. They have a rich history of involvement with the organization and we are honored by their matching gift. We think that it’s a powerful way to start this giving season.

It’s Time to Do Your Part

Now it’s your turn to say YES to Habitat. There are multiple channels to give beyond financial tithing. You may have heard the phrase ‘giving of your time, talent, and treasure’ and we think it’s a great place to start.

By giving of your time, you can volunteer at our construction sites and our ReStore locations. We are a volunteer-driven organization and excited to have you join our volunteer corps.

We have plenty of opportunities to suit everyone. We need volunteers at our ReStores, at our construction sites, serving on committees, engaging your school, workplace, or congregation and advocating for Habitat, helping in the office doing administrative work, or putting any of your personal skills to use.

For descriptions of opportunities, visit our Volunteer Opportunities page.

When you choose to give your talent, you are making a difference on another level. Your expertise can help the organization move forward and advance our impact. Your skills can help increase our capacity to do more, build more, and serve more. Consider sharing your talent by serving on a committee or helping us in our administrative office in New London.

The treasure category is diverse and includes many things beyond a financial contribution. Donating furniture and building materials to our ReStore means increased revenue that directly funds our building projects.

Flexing your financial muscles can include monthly giving, one-time donations, gifts of stock, property, and estates, as well as contributing to our year-end giving season. Donating your old car to Cars for Homes directly impacts our ability to serve more families.

A great example is the Descendants of Lucille and Richard Fontaine Family Fund, which has provided a unique opportunity for you to expand your gift by $100 this Giving Tuesday. A matching donation gift is such a thoughtful and creative way to increase Habitat’s impact.

The opportunities to give are as diverse and wide-reaching as your imagination. We applaud your willingness to reach further, dig deeper, and walk alongside Habitat. Together we can expand our impact to do our part and advocate for affordable mortgages, safe homes, and homeownership opportunities for low-income households.
