March 16, 2020
Dear Habitat for Humanity supporters,
I am writing to provide an update about the measures Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut is taking to protect our staff, volunteers and the people we serve during the COVID-19 (corona virus) pandemic.
These measures are based on guidance from Habitat for Humanity International and local, state and national public health authorities. We are continually monitoring the situation, and our approach may change as new guidance is provided.
Given the current circumstances in our area, our build sites will be closed through the end of March.
In addition, our ReStores will close temporarily beginning March 17 through the end of March. Our office will be closed to the public and staff will work remotely. We will send out additional updates as conditions change.
In order to maintain social distancing guidelines, our much anticipated annual Gala has been rescheduled for August 28.
We recognize these measures may be disruptive to your plans, but given our local conditions, this cancellation is prudent.
Please know that we are constantly monitoring the situation and will update our plans as new details emerge. Thank you for your continued support as we navigate this public health crisis together.
In partnership,
Terri O’Rourke
CEO & Executive Director
