Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell building materials, appliance, new and gently used furniture, and home accessories at a fraction of the retail price. By shopping and donating to our Habitat ReStores not only diverts reusable material from landfills, but also builds stable and sustainable communities. "Each piece carries forward the story of a past home while shaping the future of many more." – Home, Sweet Home, Yale School of Architecture |

Why should I shop at the ReStore instead of other places?
When you shop at the ReStore, you’re doing more than scoring great deals on furniture, home goods, and building supplies — you’re building a better future for your community. Every purchase helps fund Habitat for Humanity’s mission to create affordable housing right here in Eastern Connecticut. Plus, by buying secondhand, you’re keeping usable items out of landfills and giving them a second life. It’s shopping that’s good for your wallet, your neighbors, and the planet.
Where can I donate items not accepted by our ReStores?
In the Waterford area:
• Goodwill (Groton & Waterford) – Accepts clothing, small electronics, toys, and household goods.
• Safe Futures (New London) – Supports families escaping domestic violence with clothing and household donations.
• Savers (New London) – Takes a wide range of secondhand items and funds nonprofit causes.
• Waterford Public Library – Often accepts gently used books for community sales.
In the Plainfield area:
• Goodwill (Brooklyn & Putnam) – Great for clothing, books, and general household donations.
• St. Mary Food Pantry & Outreach (Jewett City) – May accept small household goods or toiletries.
• Danielson Veterans Coffeehouse – Occasionally takes donations that support veterans in need.
Before donating, please call ahead or check each organization’s website to confirm their current donation guidelines. Thank you for supporting our community through reuse!
